|Bio of Thomas Landon
Thomas DeVos Landon was born in East Cleveland Ohio on July 19, 1945 to Lester and Margery DeVos Landon.
He was taught to play the trombone beginning at the age of nine by his mother (who played piano) and was deeply motivated by her strong guidance.
Tom graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, with a major in music education for both his undergraduate and masters degrees.
When his parents moved to Sun City Arizona from Rochester , New York, so did he. He taught music on an Indian reservation for a while but moved back to Sun City, AZ., to help care for his parents when they became ill. When he lost his mother in 2002, he commuted from Tucson to Sun City to care for his father, whom is still living.
He finally got married in May of 2005 to Girtha. By marrying her, he acquired 2 stepsons, 1 stepdaughter(all adults) and 4 step-grandchildren. While living in Tucson, Tom worked several odd jobs, while continuing to play his trombone in several community bands.
He now plays with Tucson Concert band, Civic Orchestra of Tucson, as well as Old Pueblo Brass Band.
